The International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model is a mathematical description that determines the magnetic field vector (direction and strength) at a certain position around earth. Implementation is based on Thébault, “International Geomagnetic Reference Field: the 12th generation,” Earth, Planets and Space, vol. 67, 2015.
